"How thankful I am to be part of a ministry where God's faithfulness is constantly before my eyes. As I look back over the Union Gospel Mission's 58-year history, I am reminded that our ministries are doing work that is dear to the heart of God. We are answering His mandate to love and care for the poor and homeless, and when we pursue His passion, we can trust Him to provide." - Phil Altmeyer, Executive Director

The Union Gospel Mission is dedicated to operating 100-percent free of government funding. This commitment, along with the knowledge that the vast majority of our funding comes from individuals, demands that we practice good stewardship.
Eighty-nine percent of our 2008 budget was spent on program services; six percent on fundraising; and 5 percent on administrative expenses. We use in-kind contributions first to meet the needs of our guests and then to generate additional income through our thrift stores and auto programs.
We have over 220 high-impact volunteers who offer their time on a regular basis, serving a total of 39,197 hours in 2008. Their service also helps us to pare down labor costs and professional fees significantly.
