Union Gospel Mission
Partnering with the Inland Northwest to reach the poor with the love and power of the gospel so they may become God-dependent, contributing members of society.
Since 1951, the Union Gospel Mission has been meeting the physical needs of people in crisis. Food, shelter and clothing, however, are just the beginning. The earnestly desired end for our clients is a transformed heart through Jesus Christ — a realization that they are loved by God and significant as His children. Such change flows out to every aspect of their lives: physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual.
We seek to address each of these areas and, in turn, our ministries have evolved and grown over the years to include learning centers and businesses, where education and job training can take place — truly helping people return to society as contributing members.
Dear Friends,
I am privileged to have had a nearly lifelong relationship with the Union Gospel Mission. My father was a longtime board member before serving as the director of the Mission, and I remember my family playing the music at chapel services when I was a child. (Truth be told, I also remember counting the ceiling tiles during my dad’s sermons.) I am so grateful for the people who had a vision to help the homeless back in 1951. A chain of godly men and women established a solid foundation for this ministry, and over the years — in response to the changing needs of the poor and homeless in Spokane— the Mission has grown and evolved.
This website introduces the variety of ministries that exist under the Union Gospel Mission umbrella. Our primary purpose remains the same — to reach out with hope and love to men, women and children in crisis. However, our focus has expanded from just emergency assistance to lifelong change.
Our ministries are still offered free-of-charge to those in need and are almost entirely supported by local, individual donors. Without caring, committed people like you, we wouldn’t be able to provide so many wonderful services for people in need.
As you browse this site, I hope you’ll see why I feel honored to be a part of this vital outreach to the area’s poor and homeless.
Serving together,
