Moms & Tots Wellness
![]() | Several months ago, volunteer Jean Schlittenhart, a registered nurse and graduate student, observed a need for some basic health and wellness training for the mothers at Anna Ogden Hall. “Many women in the program have not had sufficient mothering themselves,” Jean noted, “and are therefore a little unclear on how to proceed with their own children.” Learn More> |
UGM Motors at a Glance
![]() | At first glance, UGM Motors could be mistaken for just another car lot on auto row. The new location at 7219 E Sprague – with a complete automotive repair facility and detail bay on site – offers a number of advantages over the old one. Instead of 20 to 30 cars for sale, the new lot holds 70 cars plus. Learn More> |
A Raven, a Widow and Some Spit
![]() | I’m a little embarrassed to admit that when we first began to make plans for an automotive segment to our ministry and even as UGM Motors began to take shape, I never really envisioned a story like the one on our cover. It’s not just that Heather is a woman but that she never had any real interest in cars, and yet, God brought healing into her life through an automotive sales and repair shop. Learn More> |
Where Mechanics and Ministry Mix
![]() | One motorcycle, one all-terrain vehicle, and thirteen cars – hoods up, cryptic messages scribbled on the windshields – fill the spacious shop at UGM Motors. Shiny red storage units, containing the tools for specific jobs, have been wheeled near the front of select cars, and technicians in gray coveralls with tell-tale blackened hands move between engines and tools, one of them shadowed by a young apprentice. Shelves of more specialized tools line the walls and huge tanks stacked one on top of another hold critical fluids and oils. Learn More> |

Forgiveness Unbound
![]() | Is it safe – not only for us but for our loved ones, our children? Can we trust this person? Is he or she going to take advantage of our kindness, our good will? Is she being honest? What if he loses his temper? Wouldn’t I be foolish to let my guard down? Can this person really change? Learn More> |
After Release
![]() | Over 17,700 men and women are behind bars in Washington’s thirteen state prisons. The Spokane County Jail houses another 700 to 800 on any given day. Well over 90 percent of these individuals will be released at some point. And then what? Learn More> |
Local restaurants teaming up
SPOKANE -- A group of restaurants around Spokane is working together to create a greater awareness of the importance of supporting our local community. Starting March 1, and running through May 31, they'll be participating in two different events to do that. One is called Dine Around Spokane, the other is a charity drive for the Union Gospel Mission. Learn More> |
